Samsung could launch three Galaxy Watches this year

Samsung usually launches two new Galaxy Watches every year. However, in 2025, it launched three new Galaxy Watches: Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025). Samsung could repeat the same strategy this year as well.

Digging through the latest version of Google's Wear OS app, Android Authority discovered three new codenames: Fresh 9, Wise 9, and Project X2. Since the Galaxy Watch 8's codename was Fresh 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic's codename was Wise 8, the newly discovered codenames likely refer to the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, respectively.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) was internally known as Project V2, so it is reasonable to assume that the device codenamed Project X2 is the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

  • Fresh 8 → Galaxy Watch 8
  • Wise 8 → Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
  • Project V2 → Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)
  • Fresh 9 → Galaxy Watch 9
  • Wise 9 → Galaxy Watch 9 Classic
  • Project X2 → Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

The report reveals that the upcoming Galaxy Watches could feature Raise-to-Talk. This allows users to raise their wrist closer to their face and issue a voice command without first saying the “Hey, Google” or “Hi, Bixby” hotword. The feature makes it easier to access an AI assistant and has been available on the Apple Watch for years.

The Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch 9 Classic could continue using the Exynos W1000 processor found in the Galaxy Watch 8 series. However, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could become the first smartwatch to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which was announced a few months ago.

All the upcoming Galaxy Watches could run One UI 9 Watch software based on Wear OS 7.
